Getting Rid of Chevrons
(Paul W. 04/13/07)

Notice the double arrows in the picture below. They are called "chevrons". If you'd like to get rid of them so you don't have to click on them to see the whole list or you don't have to wait for a while until the whole list shows up, follow the steps below.

  • Right-click anywhere in an open area on the taskbar and click on "Properties" (or click on Start/Settings/Taskbar and Start Menu...).
  • Choose the "Start Menu" tab and check the "Classic Start Menu" item if it's not already.
  • Click on the "Customize" button and scroll to the bottom of the "Advanced Start menu options".
  • Uncheck the "Used Personalized Menus" item. Click on OK and you're done with the first half of this tip.
  • Now Open Outlook and click on Tools > Customize > Options.
  • Check the "Always show full menus" and click on Close.

    That's it!
