Problem:

I'm using Open Office Impress to create a presentation as part of a business setting I cannot figure out how to add music. I've seen most people on here just having trouble getting it to run throughout the entire presentation, but I just can't seem to upload it at all. i have a few music demos in my downloaded folder that it will allow me to access, but it won't let me put anything on from something such as iTunes. I'm completely computer deficient. Once I know how to put it on at least one slide knowing how to put it on the entire presentation would be great.

Also, when I put in a song from my downloaded folder the song comes up as a box in the middle of my slide, how do I get rid of the box, but keep the sound?

Solution:

You do not use the insert movie or sound option from the main menu.

Follow these steps carefully, it does work, but it is a cumbersome process and the buttons are not always obvious from the description.

Here's what you do to play music across any number of slides, insert the music as a slide transition effect following these simple steps:

1. In the task pane on the right hand side of the screen, at the bottom, select the "Slide transition" tab.

2. In the Modify transition section click drop down menu next to Sound and select the file containing the desired music (you may need to select "Other sound" in the drop down menu and browse the contents of your hard disk).

3. If you wish the music to restart (if it ends before your slideshow ends) check the "Loop until next sound" box. If you want to stop the music at a certain slide (or after just one slide), create a new transition selecting no sound.

* Do not select the "Apply to all slides" button otherwise the music will re-start at every slide change.
